The wife of a prominent media personality, known as the “Egungun of Lagos,” has publicly disclosed an ongoing blackmail attempt involving a private video of her husband.
The incident came to light on December 1st, 2024, when she took to social media to express her distress over the situation. According to her detailed posts, an unnamed blackmailer is threatening to release the video unless financial demands are met.
The video in question was intended as a personal message between the couple and was leaked without their consent. In her statements, Egungun’s wife firmly defended her husband’s character, emphasizing that he has “never cheated on me before.” She described their relationship as one built on “trust, understanding, loyalty, and commitment.”
Despite the malicious attempt to tarnish their reputation, she expressed unwavering trust in her husband and urged the public not to be swayed by the blackmailer’s motives.
Screenshots of the blackmailer’s messages were shared, revealing threats to escalate the situation by leaking the content to media outlets. The blackmailer warned, “You can choose to ignore, but once he starts trending, you will be ashamed of yourself.”
In the face of this distressing ordeal, Egungun’s wife concluded her message with gratitude and optimism, wishing her followers a Merry Christmas and promising updates on upcoming family projects.
