SUSO Initiative Founder, Dr. Doyle Edeni, Empowers 300 Small-Scale Farmers In Jigawa

The Stand Up Speak Out Initiative (SUSO), founded by Dr. Doyle Edeni, has launched its Small-Scale Farmers Empowerment Project in the Hadejia Local Government Area of Jigawa State. The project which was launched on November 5th, supported 300 small-scale farmers across the state, equipping them with essential resources and training to improve agricultural productivity and support local food security.

Each farmer received vital farm inputs, including improved wheat seeds, fertilizers, and agrochemicals, along with agricultural development training to ensure effective use of these resources. Specifically, each farmer was provided with a bag of Indorama Urea fertilizer, 10 kg of high-yield Boloudh 100 wheat seeds, and 2 liters of Butter Force agrochemical. These provisions are aimed at assisting the farmers as they prepare for the upcoming wheat farming season.

The event gathered notable dignitaries and stakeholders, including representatives of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Hadejia, Alh. Baffa Abubakar (Sarkin Fulanin Hadejia), as well as Jigawa State Governor’s representative, Hon. Basiru Abdullahi (B-Hadejia). Other attendees included Prof. Bashir Garba Mukhtar, Rector of Bilyaminu Usman College of Agriculture Hadejia, and delegates from ACReSAL, JARDA, JASCO, AFAN, and the Hadejia Local Government Council. Several partnership opportunities were identified, establishing a collaborative foundation for future agricultural and community development efforts in the region.

The program attracted substantial media attention from major outlets, including Jigawa Television, the Nigerian Television Authority, Jigawa Radio, and Freedom Radio. Through this media coverage, SUSO Initiative highlighted its call for ongoing support for local farmers and advocated for increased welfare and resources for Nigeria’s agricultural workers.

Representatives from the Jigawa State Government, the Hadejia Emirate Council, Hadejia Local Government Council, academic institutions, development partners, and farming communities commended the SUSO Initiative’s efforts to advance food security, reduce poverty, and fight hunger across the state and nation.
