VeryDarkMan, social media critic popularly known as VDM, has opened up about incidents that led to the end of his friendship with Nigerian Afrobeats star, Davido.
In a video shared on Thursday, November 5, VDM explained how their once friendly relationship broke down over the fight for justice for late singer, Mohbad.
According to VDM, the same issue that brought them together became the same reason they fell apart.
He recounted that he became heavily involved in demanding justice for Mohbad following the singer’s death in September 2023, at a time where questions surrounding the circumstances of the singer’s death had led to widespread public scrutiny.
VDM said Davido followed him on social media in early 2024 and admitted that he had been startruck because Davido was a big name.
After this, they subsequently became friends and VDM said he had showed support for the singer by occasionally promoting his music and new releases.

VDM alleged that the group chat contained discussions involving people associated with Davido and others in the entertainment industry.
He claimed the conversations suggested that some members had planned his arrest because of his continued questions about Mohbad’s death.
The critic said he tried repeatedly to reach Davido to understand why people in his circle were after him.
He said Davido did not answer his calls, and later, a blog associated with the singer’s circle suggested that VDM wanted to record a conversation with him for blackmail.
VDM described the incident as betrayal, saying it was disappointing because he had considered Davido a friend.
This revelation comes after the back-and-forth between the critic and Nigerian artist, Zlatan, with Davido caught in the crossfire after a video surfaced of him vibing to Zlatan’s song ‘INFERNO’– which had some lyrics at VDM, during the singer’s wedding welcome party in Morocco.
