The African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has spoken about the attack on him in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
Sowore, who recounted his experience during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, said some suspected thugs descended on him and beat him mercilessly.
He disclosed that the incident occurred in broad daylight at a restaurant in Ado-Ekiti, where he had gone to meet with some of his supporters.
“They beat me like a criminal. They came from nowhere, about 20 of them, armed with sticks and bottles. They said they will kill me if I come to Ekiti again,” Sowore said.
He said the attackers were captured on CCTV, but alleged that the police and the Department of State Services, DSS, have seized the footage to cover up the incident.
Sowore said he sustained injuries on his face and body and had to be rushed to a hospital for treatment.
