Veteran Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has urged Nigerians to give President Bola Tinubu more time in office, arguing that the country’s problems did not begin with the current administration.
Anuku made the remarks during an appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, where he defended Tinubu’s leadership and called for patience with the government’s Renewed Hope agenda.
“Nigeria has to be patient for the renewed hope of this man, Tinubu, and the country was not spoiled by him,” the actor said.
“There were people there before him now. Why didn’t they go and attack those people? He has to fix it now. He’s doing great. Nigeria should be patient.”
Anuku said Nigerians were expecting results too quickly despite the scale of the challenges inherited by the administration.
“We’re in too much of a hurry,” he said.

According to him, there was no guarantee that whoever succeeded the President would perform better.
“He has to serve his term, his tenure,” Anuku said.
“How many people can be better than him because he’s this and that? Most people who are going to come, maybe after, maybe they’re even worse off.”
Anuku also dismissed suggestions that he was being paid to publicly support Tinubu.
“No one pays me,” he said.
The actor declared that he remained personally supportive of the President despite criticism of the administration.
“I’m going to be hanging out with Mr President himself. There’s nothing you can do about that,” he said.
Anuku also spoke about difficult moments in his personal life, including the death of the mother of his children and alleged betrayal by friends.
“When I lost my woman, you know, mother of my children, it’s deep, and it hurts. I was depressed a bit,” he said.
He added that the experience forced him into a period of isolation but said his faith eventually helped him recover.
“Some friends betrayed me as well. Some want you dead. Some even want you to go mad and all that,” he said.
Hanks Anuku has previously rejected claims that he was mentally unstable after videos circulated online suggesting otherwise, saying the reports damaged his reputation and career.
