Trump Threatens To Hit Iran ‘Very Hard’ If Linked To Terr0r Attack On Flydubai Flight To Israel

The United States President, Donald Trump, has threatened to launch fresh attacks on Iran if investigations establish that Tehran was behind an alleged attempt by a co-pilot to crash a Flydubai passenger aircraft travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv, Israel.

Trump made the threat on Thursday while responding to questions from journalists at the White House about Iran’s possible involvement in the incident, in which the co-pilot allegedly assaulted the captain before passengers intervened to prevent the aircraft from crashing.

“I would say the answer, based on what I’m hearing, is yes, but we’re working on it right now,” Trump said when asked whether Iran was responsible for the incident.

Asked whether the United States would retaliate if Tehran was found to have orchestrated the attack, Trump responded, “Oh, they’ll be hit very hard, don’t worry.”

The incident has also drawn comments from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who reportedly said the suspect had undergone “Islamist radical indoctrination.”

However, no conclusive evidence establishing Iran’s involvement in the alleged attack was presented in the reported remarks.

Trump’s threat comes amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, with the US president adopting a more aggressive position over the stalled war with Iran and repeatedly threatening further military action against the Islamic Republic.

In an interview with Time magazine published on Thursday, Trump said it was possible that the United States could resume bombing Iran after the November 3 midterm elections.

“Yeah, I would do that. It’s possible,” Trump was quoted as saying when asked whether he would consider restarting military operations against Iran.

He also reiterated his threat to “annihilate” Iran, which he had previously made during his address to the United Nations General Assembly last week.

Trump defended the prospect of further military action, claiming that previous attacks on Iran had contributed to global peace.

“Because by annihilating Iran, we’ve created peace in the world. With Iran, I don’t think you could ever have peace,” he said.

The remarks represent a further hardening of Trump’s position towards Tehran, despite his earlier efforts to portray himself as a “president of peace.”

The escalating confrontation is also unfolding against the backdrop of the November midterm elections, in which Republicans are facing the possibility of losing control of Congress.

Trump’s approval ratings have reportedly declined amid public concerns over the war with Iran and rising living costs, particularly as high oil prices continue to place pressure on households and businesses.

Meanwhile, Iran has continued to exert control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route, more than seven months after the initial US and Israeli attacks on the country.

Trump has repeatedly said that the military campaign is aimed at preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

The Wall Street Journal also reported that the United States was preparing to deploy a third aircraft carrier and as many as 10,000 additional military personnel to the Middle East by the end of November.

The deployment reportedly includes the USS Theodore Roosevelt, although it was not immediately clear whether the aircraft carrier would replace either of the two US carriers already operating in the region.

According to the report, Trump had told aides that he expected the United States to resume bombing Iran by late November.

The potential deployment of additional US military assets and Trump’s latest threats have raised further concerns over the possibility of renewed military escalation in the Middle East, particularly as tensions over the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear programme remain unresolved.

The reported threat of retaliation over the Flydubai incident adds another potential flashpoint to the already strained relations between Washington and Tehran.
