The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has officially opened applications for the ECOWAS Volunteers Programme (EVP) 2026 for young West Africans.
The EVP is a flagship, demand-driven programme of the ECOWAS Commission designed to harness the skills and energy of young professionals to support peacebuilding, regional integration, sustainable development, and community development across member states.
This year’s recruitment includes both National and International Volunteer Posts.
Current Open Positions Include:
– Communication and Visibility Specialist – Abuja, Nigeria
– Programme Assistant – ECOWAS Peace Fund Secretariat, Abuja
– Health Professionals – Paediatric/Neonatal Nurse, Nephrology/Dialysis Nurse
– Education – French Teacher, Chemistry Teacher, Physics Teacher, Mathematics Teacher, Computer Science Teacher
– Community Health Educator
– Financial Administration and Programme Coordination
Locations for international posts are mainly Liberia and Nigeria.
Benefits:
Selected volunteers will be offered an initial 12-month contract, renewable based on performance and budget availability.

Eligibility Criteria:
– Must be a citizen of an ECOWAS Member State: Benin, Cabo Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo.
– Age: Not more than 35 years at the time of recruitment.
– Education: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field – International Relations, Project Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Education, Health Sciences or related discipline.
– Experience: Minimum 3 years relevant professional experience, including at least 2 years with an international organization (for specialized roles).
– Willingness to serve outside your country of origin. International volunteers cannot serve in their own country.
– Strong English skills, report writing, proficiency in Microsoft Office. Knowledge of French or Portuguese is an added advantage.

1. Signed motivation letter addressed to the Director, ECOWAS Youth and Sports Development Centre (EYSDC), Monrovia, Liberia
2. Detailed Curriculum Vitae
3. Copies of certificates, diplomas and work certificates
4. Copy of international passport or National ID card
5. Police clearance certificate (less than 3 months old, required before resumption)
