Nigerian dancer and entertainer Poco Lee has broken his silence following his release on bail in the United Kingdom, maintaining that he remained mentally strong because he knew he was innocent of the allegation against him.
Poco Lee spoke during a video call with social commentator VeryDarkMan, which was shared on social media on Sunday.
The dancer said his biggest concern during the period was the welfare of his associates and the effect his absence could have on their businesses.
“I was just being myself. God sees my heart. My only worries were about my people. Jago could not do anything business, and I didn’t want to stress anyone,” Poco Lee said.
He explained that his state of mind would have been different if he believed he had committed the alleged offence.
“If I was inside there and I did what I was accused of, I would have felt I was paying for my sins, but since I knew I didn’t do what I was accused of, my mind is pure,” he said.
Poco Lee also expressed appreciation to those who continued to support him during the difficult period, particularly Nigerian singer Burna Boy and his associates.
“Nobody would have wanted to associate themselves with something like that, but Burna Boy stood by me, Jago and some of my other guys,” he said.
VeryDarkMan, who published footage of the conversation, also questioned some of the reports surrounding Poco Lee’s situation while commending Burna Boy and Rahman Jago for standing by the dancer.
The development comes ahead of proceedings in the case, with Snaresbrook Crown Court having scheduled September 15 for plea and trial preparation.
The case reportedly followed Poco Lee’s visit to the UK in August for the Davido and Friends concert held at the Crystal Palace Bowl in London on August 14.
