The Air Component of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation Hadin Kai, has neutralised more than 18 terrorists and destroyed key logistics hubs during a precision air strike at Tumbunma Baba in the Tumbuns area of Borno State.
The operation was conducted in the early hours of Friday following credible intelligence on the activities of high-profile terrorist elements in the area.
Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement.
Goni said intelligence gathered over several weeks indicated that terrorist elements were converging at meeting points and logistics nodes within the islands.
He said the intelligence was further validated through surveillance by the Theatre Command, with confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions conducted from Wednesday, September 9.
According to him, the ISR missions identified several terrorist structures and logistics hubs, confirming that the location was being used as a gathering and support base.

Following positive identification of the targets, military aircraft engaged the designated locations with precision munitions, while ground troops of Sector 1, Operation Hadin Kai, occupied likely escape routes to prevent the terrorists from fleeing.
The military said the air strikes destroyed the targeted structures and neutralised more than 18 terrorist elements.
It added that the operation significantly disrupted terrorist activities in the area by destroying their logistics and weakening their ability to use the enclave as a gathering and support base.
A post-strike assessment indicated an estimated 85 per cent success in achieving the operation’s objectives.
The military said the outcome demonstrated the effectiveness of intelligence-led operations, timely ISR confirmation and coordinated air and ground operations.
It added that Operation Hadin Kai would continue to conduct intelligence-driven operations to prevent terrorists from operating, regrouping or establishing logistics and support infrastructure across the North-East.
The military also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible and timely information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to identify and disrupt terrorist activities across the theatre.
