JUST-IN: Court Declines ‘PFIPC DG’ Adeyemi’s Request For Bail, Access To Medical Attention

A Federal High Court in Abuja has declined the request by Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the detained self-styled Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), for bail and access to medical attention.

Instead, in a ruling on an ex parte application by Adeyemi, Justice Obiora Egwuatu ordered the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) to grant Adeyemi access to his lawyers.

Justice Egwuatu also ordered the IGP, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the AGF to show cause, within 72 hours, why the other reliefs sought by Adeyemi, including bail, should not be granted.

The judge then adjourned the matter until September 9 for the respondents – IGP, NPF and AGF – to show cause.

Following an application by the police on July 14, a Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Mohammed Umar, issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

Justice Umar adjourned until September 30 for a report on police activities related to the arrest order and possible arraignment.

The police later claimed, also on July 14, to have arrested the alleged “fake DG” at his hideout in Osun State.

The police have since November 27, 2025, filed an eight-count charge, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, against Adeyemi, accusing him of forgery, fraud, and impersonation.
