Social media activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has doubled down on his allegations against the Nigeria Police Force, insisting that he will produce evidence of alleged police involvement in kidnapping and other violent crimes only when the matter gets to court.
VeryDarkMan was responding to an invitation from the police following controversial remarks he made at the 66th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association in Port Harcourt.
During the conference, he alleged that some police officers stationed at checkpoints along major highways pass information about travellers and their movements to kidnappers and bandits.
The Nigeria Police Force subsequently asked him to provide evidence supporting the allegations.
Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, said the invitation was intended to give VeryDarkMan an opportunity to substantiate his claims.
But the activist, responding through his official Facebook page, refused to withdraw the allegations.

He went further, alleging that some police personnel were behind crimes attributed to so-called “unknown gunmen.”
“I repeat, THE POLICE ARE THE UNKNOWN gunmen and they aid kidnappings,” VeryDarkMan alleged.
He said he intended to present whatever evidence he possesses before a court rather than hand it over at this stage of the police invitation.
“I’m going to give the police my evidence. I will be charged to court and I will tender the evidence in the court,” he said.
The activist has not publicly released the evidence he says supports the allegations.

If I may comment on this post. The entire police force didn’t know what dey are doing. In that conference the very dark man did not mention only police. He started with the other uniform men before he conclude it on the police. Now police have jump out asking verydark man to provide the evidence. If i may ask what did they need evidence for. All what police know is to follow up a case that will not go anywhere. Even our IGP down to the last rank are the same people who contributed to the problem of this country bcos if u don’t have money the police can never give u justice in this country. The same verydark man is the one giving them most of the highest cases allegedly. Now my conclusion in this matter. without the police or other uniform men no kidnaper can kidnap successful in any place bcos before they carry out any of their operations they will call the police or other uniform men to clear their way. Gun are passing the highway everyday by day and the road full with all the security agency. What exactly are doing at the checking point.
