Hamas Agrees To Disarm As U.S. Unveils New Palestinian Govt For Gaza – Trump Reveals

United States President Donald Trump has announced what he described as a “historic” agreement aimed at the complete disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in the Gaza Strip, alongside the creation of a new Palestinian administration to govern the territory under international supervision.

Trump made the announcement on Friday, describing the development as a major breakthrough that would pave the way for long-term peace and security in Gaza while addressing Israel’s security concerns.

According to the U.S. president, the agreement forms a key part of his administration’s “20-Point Plan” for Gaza and will be implemented in carefully coordinated phases.

“Today, the Board of Peace reached a HISTORIC agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza. This is a monumental step toward lasting peace and security,” Trump said.

He added that the deal would see Gaza placed under the control of “a new Palestinian government” that would work alongside the newly created Board of Peace to rebuild the territory.

“This agreement is a critical step towards Gaza finally being governed by a new Palestinian government that will work closely with the Board of Peace to help the Palestinian people,” Trump said.

“At the same time, Israel will have the security it deserves, with Gaza no longer used as a base for terror attacks.”

Under the proposed arrangement, Israeli troops are expected to withdraw in stages as Hamas and other armed factions surrender their weapons.

Security responsibilities would then be assumed by an International Stabilization Force working alongside a newly established Palestinian police force tasked with maintaining law and order across Gaza.

Trump said the agreement represented a dramatic shift from the conditions that existed only a year ago.

“One year ago there was a violent raging war, humanitarian crisis and hostages kept in brutal captivity. We have made historic progress, and there is still much work to do,” he said.

The U.S. president also thanked Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye for their mediation efforts, while praising members of his negotiating team for securing what he described as a breakthrough that many believed was impossible.

“The threat that emerged from Gaza on October 7 will not be allowed to rebuild! Under this agreement, Gaza will finally be in the hands of a new Palestinian government that serves its people,” he said.

He declared, “Congratulations to all on this amazing development that everybody said could never be achieved!”

The announcement comes alongside the unveiling of a roadmap by the Gaza Board of Peace, a newly established U.S.-led international body designed to oversee Gaza’s post-war governance, reconstruction and security.

According to details released with the proposal, the Gaza Board of Peace will be chaired by Trump and will oversee strategic decisions, post-war stabilisation efforts and international funding for reconstruction.

A seven-member Founding Executive Board led by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair will reportedly implement the body’s agenda.

Expected members include Jared Kushner, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and Ajay Banga.

The framework also proposes the establishment of a National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, an apolitical technocratic Palestinian body responsible for civil governance without Hamas participation.

An International Stabilization Force backed by partner countries would oversee security during the transition, while a newly recruited Gaza Police Force would gradually assume responsibility for policing areas vacated during the disarmament process.

However, several aspects of the proposal remain unclear, including how Hamas would surrender its weapons, the composition of the new Palestinian administration, and the recruitment process for the planned police force.

The announcement also did not indicate whether Hamas or other Palestinian factions have formally accepted the proposed roadmap.
