2027: Obasanjo Is the Main Force Behind Obi-Kwankwaso Ticket –  Ex-Adviser, Osuntokun

Former Political Adviser to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, Akin Osuntokun, has dismissed claims that Obasanjo’s recent letter to former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba was intended to give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a political advantage.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, Osuntokun said there was no basis for such an interpretation, insisting that Obasanjo has remained a vocal critic of the Tinubu administration.

According to him, the only presidential ticket the former president appears to be supporting ahead of the 2027 general election is a potential alliance between Labour Party’s Peter Obi and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

“I don’t think it’s correct to say what Obasanjo said in his letter to Osoba is an attempt to give advantage to Tinubu. Obasanjo is critic of Tinubu’s administration.

“The only ticket Obasanjo is supporting is the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket, which is conspicuously obvious,” Osuntokun said.

In another development, GISTSMATE MEDIA reports a United States lobbying firm linked to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has renewed calls for the release of records relating to President Bola Tinubu’s case in the United States, while announcing plans to engage anti-drug organisations and victims of heroin abuse over the matter.

The firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, made the announcement in a statement shared on its official X account on Saturday, alleging that US law enforcement agencies under former President Joe Biden refused to release documents relating to Tinubu’s alleged links to heroin trafficking investigations despite multiple Freedom of Information Act requests.

According to the firm, the requests were submitted to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Justice and the Drug Enforcement Administration by American transparency activist Aaron Greenspan.

It listed the requests as FOIA numbers 1588244-000, 1593615-000, 22-00892-F, 24-00201-F, and EOUSA-2023-002028. READ MORE
