Folashade Oluwafemiayo has defended her para-powerlifting women’s heavyweight title at the 2026 Commonwealth Games (CWG).
The 41-year-old lifted an incredible 175kg to break her own world record, which she had set at the 2025 World Para-Powerlifting Championship.
Oluwafemiayo amassed 134.8 points to finish well above the chasing pack and defend the title she won at the last CWG in Birmingham, England.
Rita Ferdinand clinched a silver medal, lifting 158 kg, which improved her total points to 128.2 to finish above Australia’s Hani Watson.
In women’s lightweight, Esther Nworgu won another gold medal with a Games record score of 119 points, ahead of Esther Oyema on 115.5. England’s Olivia Broome took bronze.
