Nigerian Afrobeats singer and Grammy award-winning star, Ayodeji Balogun, better known as Wizkid, has revealed that he struggled with food while living in the United States (US).
Speaking in a recent interview, the singer said he became bored during the two years he spent in the United States because he could not get Nigerian food as often as he wanted.
Recounting his ordeal, Wizkid said he usually spent between $300 and $400 every day just to enjoy Nigerian meals.
According to him, despite his international fame and luxurious lifestyle, he still considers himself “A local boy” and has not altered his preference for Nigerian cuisine.
“I only eat Nigerian food everywhere I go. I got bored staying in the USA for 2 years because I wasn’t getting Nigerian food as much as I wanted.
I used to spend $300 to $400 every single day for 2 years in the US just to have a taste of Nigerian food. I’m a local boy o.
“Forget all this Louis Vuitton Gucci stuff. I love what I love, you know. You can take the boy out of the ghetto, but you cannot take the ghetto out of the boy”.

In a viral video circulating online, VDM claimed their relationship deteriorated after he turned down an alleged N50 million offer to campaign for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is Davido’s uncle.
