The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has disowned a forged press release circulating online claiming the postponement of its 2026 recruitment exercises.
In a notice posted on its X account on Sunday, the board stamped the purported release with a large red “FAKE” watermark.
It urged prospective applicants and the general public to disregard the document.
The counterfeit notice, purportedly issued by the CDCFIB’s Office of the Secretary, claimed that “the 2026 recruitment exercises had been postponed due to administrative rearrangements.”
It directed applicants to “wait until November 2026 for further details and advised them not to pay any fees to individuals or groups promising early access.”
The fake notice also directed applicants to the official portal at recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng.
However, the CDCFIB emphasised that the document did not emanate from the board.
The warning came a week after the board released the names of successful applicants who participated in the November 2025 recruitment online Computer-Based Test.
The board announced that successful applicants would proceed to the next stage of the process, with the medical screening exercise scheduled to commence on June 22, 2026.
The recruitment exercise covers applicants seeking employment in the Nigeria Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
