Operatives of the Violent Crimes Response Unit (VCRU) of the Abia State Police Command have arrested a man seen physically assaulting a woman in a viral video that circulated widely on social media.
The arrest was carried out by officers led by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Emeka Amanchukwu following credible intelligence received by the unit.
A photograph of the suspect’s arrest was posted on Facebook on June 20, indicating that he was apprehended in the Ogbor Hill area of Aba.
Sources said the police acted swiftly on the intelligence, tracking down and arresting the suspect.
“The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue,” a source said.
The VCRU reiterated its commitment to ensuring that perpetrators of violent crimes are identified, arrested and brought to justice.
In another development, GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that the Gombe State Police Command has recovered a Toyota Highlander allegedly stolen in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, nearly five years after it disappeared, following a routine vehicle verification exercise in Gombe.
The command said the breakthrough was recorded on June 8, 2026, when operatives of the State Intelligence Department, working in collaboration with officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps at the Gombe State Internal Revenue Service licence office, uncovered discrepancies during a vehicle data verification and upload exercise.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Buhari Abdullahi, in a statement on Saturday, the vehicle, a Toyota Highlander with registration number FH823PHC, engine number 1MZ-11433787 and chassis number JTEGF21AX30073604, was suspected to have been stolen. READ MORE
