A legal practitioner, Barrister Chinedu Ifeanyi Iloeje, has publicly declared that a man he previously believed to be his son is not biologically related to him, following the outcome of a DNA test.
The declaration was contained in a public notice published in a national newspaper, where Iloeje said he had been misled by the man’s mother into believing that the individual, identified as Chinedu Francis Iloeje, was his biological son.
According to the notice, DNA testing conducted on the matter established “beyond any doubt” that the man is not his biological child.
Barrister Iloeje further clarified that he never legally adopted the individual, despite him bearing his surname and identity.
He explained that the man’s original name is Chinedu Francis Onwualu, stressing that there is no biological or legal relationship between them.
The disclaimer notice was also circulated to several bodies and institutions, including the Greater Iloeje Family, the Umuodu Village Union, Uwani Amokwe Town Union, St. Theresa’s Catholic Church Amokwe, the Udi Local Government Council, and other relevant stakeholders.
Iloeje stated that the publication was made in good faith and while of sound mind, urging the public to take due note of the clarification.
The development has since generated public discussion on paternity disputes and the growing reliance on DNA testing in resolving questions of biological parentage and family identity.
