Don’t Campaign For Any Political Party; Stay Clear Of Politics – NYSC DG Warns Corps Members

Olakunle Nafiu, the director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has once again warned corps members to avoid political affiliations.

Nafiu spoke while addressing the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I corps members at the orientation camp in Lagos.

Nafiu noted that the scheme was designed as an apolitical organisation, adding that serving members are not involved in partisan political activities.

“Do not get involved in the campaign of any political party. Don’t mix NYSC with politics. You should stay clear of politics,” he said.

The NYSC DG also advised corps members to use social media responsibly and avoid all forms of cyber-related offences.

“If you are found guilty, you will face the consequences. Be careful about the way you use social media,” he was quoted in the statement.

Nafiu also advised corps members on the importance of commitment to their goals and aspirations.

He said serving corps members should be “financially prudent, cultivate a savings culture, and conduct themselves with discipline”.

The brigadier-general urged the corps members to abide by the scheme’s vision of promoting national unity and integration across cultural divides.

He urged them to embrace the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme and to explore investment opportunities in the capital market to secure their financial future.

“It will also enable Corps Members to make informed financial decisions.”
