The Federal Government, through the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi (SAN), has arraigned over 400 terrorism suspects for prosecution at the Federal High Court complex in Abuja.
It was gathered that the ongoing trials are being conducted in multiple courts within the Federal High Court premises.
The prosecution team, led by the AGF and supported by the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), is handling the cases against the suspects.
The defendants are facing various charges bordering on terrorism, aiding and abetting insurgent activities, and financing terrorism-related operations.
This development follows a similar mass trial held in April 2026, where out of 508 defendants, 386 were convicted, 8 discharged, and 2 acquitted.
Several of those convicted received prison sentences of up to 20 years.
The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, has constituted a special panel of judges to oversee the trials.
The Federal Government is being represented by the Office of the Attorney General, while indigent defendants are receiving legal assistance from the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria.
