Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Hon. Omowumi Isaac now appear to be on a collision course over the outcome of the recent House of Assembly direct primary election, especially in Owo Constituency.
The confusion that followed the exercise, with both Hon. Funke Aruna and Hon. Tahoheed Musa allegedly making separate declarations of victory, has further exposed the deepening power struggle within the party structure in Owo.
Political observers see the development as more than an ordinary primary election disagreement. To many, it reflects an internal supremacy battle between the camp loyal to Governor Aiyedatiwa and forces believed to be aligned with the Commissioner for Finance and influential political stakeholders in Owo politics.
What should have been a peaceful internal democratic process has now generated controversy, tension, and uncertainty among party members and supporters.
The situation also raises serious questions about coordination, transparency, and the credibility of the primary process.
If not properly managed, the crisis could weaken party unity ahead of the main election and create unnecessary divisions among loyalists within the constituency.
At this critical moment, party leaders and stakeholders must embrace dialogue, respect due process, and avoid actions or statements capable of escalating tensions further.
Democracy thrives when internal disputes are resolved through lawful and peaceful means, not through parallel announcements or political intimidation.
