Celebrity businessman, Pascal Okechukwu, aka Cubana Chief Priest, has reportedly lost his bid to secure the All Progressives Congress, APC, House of Representatives ticket for Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency of Imo State.
GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that the nightlife promoter, who serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, was seeking to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives.
Social media reactions have been swift, with many users mocking his defeat and suggesting he underestimated the ruthlessness of Nigerian politics.
Reacting, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Ovie Success, wondered why the celebrity-turned politician is being mocked.
“Why are people mocking Cubana Chief Priest? Not nice… it’s ok to try and try again.
“He lost an election and so what? I am disappointed,” Success wrote on his Facebook page.
In a related development, GISTSMATE MEDIA reported that the APC has released a list of House of Representatives aspirants marked “not cleared” across several states, including Ondo, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Kogi and Rivers, ahead of its National Assembly primaries for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement on Saturday signed by National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the list formed part of the party’s screening process, which determined eligibility for participation in the primaries across constituencies.
According to the statement, “The screening exercise was conducted by the Party’s Screening Committees in line with established procedures and guidelines.” READ MORE
