The Federation of Ibadan Students’ Union (FIBSU) has congratulated Mogaji Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe on his nomination as Minister for Power by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a press statement by the FIBSU National President, Aare Giwa Kamorudeen Olawale, the union appreciated President Tinubu for appointing Ibadan-born political figure after resignation of Adebayo Adelabu.
The press release reads:
On behalf of the entire students of Ibadanland, home and in the diaspora, I, Aare Giwa Kamorudeen Olawale, National President of the Federation of Ibadan Students’ Union (FIBSU), heartily congratulate our father, leader, and proud son of Ibadanland, Mogaji Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, on his well-deserved nomination as Minister for Power by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
Mogaji Tegbe’s nomination is not a surprise to those of us who have followed his track record of excellence, integrity, and service. As a seasoned technocrat, management expert, and policy strategist, he brings to the power sector a rare combination of technical depth and administrative competence.
“His years of experience in both the private and public sectors have prepared him for this national assignment at a time when Nigeria needs competence over politics and results over rhetoric.
“The power sector remains the engine room of national development. For decades, students, artisans, small businesses, and industries in Ibadan and across Nigeria have borne the brunt of unstable electricity. Hostels are dark, laboratories are underpowered, and young entrepreneurs spend more on diesel than on innovation.
“We are therefore confident that Mogaji Tegbe’s appointment will usher in a new era of practical solutions, grid stability, and renewed focus on renewable energy and transmission infrastructure.
“We also use this opportunity to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his bold and far-reaching reforms in the power sector.
“From the signing of the Electricity Act 2023 that liberalized the sector, to the unbundling of TCN, the push for state participation in power generation and distribution, and the ongoing efforts to clear legacy debts and attract private investment, the President has shown clarity of purpose.
“These reforms are laying the foundation for a power sector that works for all Nigerians, not just a privileged few.
