Suspected angry youths have attacked Hon. Tanko Rossi Sabo, the Director of Mobilization and Public Awareness for the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), in Kafanchan, Southern Kaduna, Kaduna state.
Hon Sabo is the Director of mobilization and key campaign official for Senator Sunday Marshall Katung (APC), politician representing Kaduna South Senatorial District since 2023.
The attack is reported to be politically motivated, according to a statement issued by Midat Joseph, the media aide to Senator Katung.
The incident follows a series of reported, separate incidents in the region, including angry youths chasing an APC lawmaker over non-performance.
Another group in Northern Nigeria also destroyed campaign billboards in Kaduna and Bauchi due to frustration over economic hardships and neglect.
In August 2024, youths attacked properties owned by political leaders amid the ongoing nationwide protests against hardships and bad governance in the country.
In videos posted on social media, some youths were seen burning a mansion built by a serving House of Representatives member, Nazifi Sani Gumel, representing Gumel/Maigatari/Sule Tankarkar/Gagarawa Federal Constituency.
The youths accused the lawmaker of neglecting their constituency after his election 14 months ago during the last general elections.
In a similar incident that happened in Yobe State, another set of angry youth attacked a current serving Senator’s House for allegedly siphoning public funds meant for the development of his district.
