A disturbing incident has emerged from Odisha, where a man reportedly brought the remains of his deceased sister to a bank after repeated attempts to access her funds were unsuccessful.
The man, identified as Jitu Munda, had been trying to withdraw about ₹20,000 from his late sister’s account following her death on January 26, 2026.
Reports say bank officials declined the request due to documentation requirements, despite being informed of her passing.

In protest, Munda allegedly exhumed her remains and presented them at a branch of Odisha Gramya Bank in Malliposi, Keonjhar district.
The incident has sparked outrage online, raising concerns about access to funds, bureaucratic hurdles, and the treatment of vulnerable individuals in rural communities.
While many condemned the man action, some users opined that banks officials should learn how to handle decease fund withdrawal in more polite way.
There is no confirmation either the man was able to withdraw from his late sister’s account after the protest or not.
