Iran Sends Fresh Proposal To US Via Pakistan To Reopen Strait Of Hormuz, End War

Iran has reportedly sent a fresh proposal to the United States through Pakistani intermediaries aimed at ending the conflict and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, as efforts to secure direct talks remain stalled.

The proposal, first reported by Axios, seeks to “reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the war,” offering what could become a diplomatic opening after weeks of tension.

According to ABP News, sources said the plan contains a “two-stage plan” focused first on maritime access and the removal of the US naval blockade before nuclear negotiations begin later.

It reportedly proposes either a “prolonged period” of ceasefire extension or a “permanent end to the war.” Under the arrangement, nuclear talks would “begin only at a later stage,” once shipping routes are reopened and restrictions lifted.

The White House has confirmed it has “received the proposal,” but it remains “unclear whether the United States is willing to explore it.”

US President Donald Trump recently said Tehran could “call” Washington if it wished to negotiate, while insisting Iran must not develop nuclear weapons.

However, hopes of quick progress weakened after the White House cancelled a planned trip to Islamabad by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The move was widely seen as showing “dissatisfaction with Tehran’s earlier offer.”

A major sticking point remains Washington’s demand that Iran halt uranium enrichment for at least ten years and transfer its nuclear stockpile abroad.

The Axios report said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told mediators there is currently “no consensus within the Iranian leadership” on how to respond to those terms.

Araghchi has since travelled between Pakistan and Oman and is expected in Moscow for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as Tehran seeks outside backing while negotiations remain unresolved.
