Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has urged members of his church to hand over his phone number to kidnappers if they are ever abducted, saying he has the spiritual authority to secure their release.
Oyedepo made the statement during a church service at the church’s Canaanland headquarters in Ota, Ogun State, in a sermon that has since gone viral on social media.
“If anybody picks you, give them my number, give them my number,” he told the congregation.
He cited previous kidnapping cases involving church members, including one in which an abducted pastor was asked to hand the phone to his captors.
“I said, ‘In 24 hours, if you don’t take him out, you are dead,’” Oyedepo recalled, adding that the pastor was subsequently released.
The cleric also recounted the case of a female member who, while in captivity, declared that she would regain her freedom by 7 a.m. the following day.
“She said, ‘My father said, I’m getting out of here latest by 7 a.m.’ They didn’t call. They started cutting themselves,” he said.
Oyedepo told worshippers that believers possess divine authority over evil forces and should exercise their faith in times of adversity.
“You have been raised far above the devil. If the church does not conquer these devils, God has left heaven,” he said.
