A housewife, Mas’uda Ado, has approached an Upper Area Court in Kubwa, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), seeking the dissolution of her marriage to her husband, Nasir Abubakar on grounds of lack of love and affection.
Mas’uda told the court that she got married to Nasir, according to Islamic laws in January, 2023 and had a daughter.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), she told the court that she did not love her husband anymore and begged for the dissolution of her marriage.
The respondent, however, told the court to give him some time to settle with his wife, adding that he was still in love with her.
“I have other wives but the plaintiff is special to me,” he said.
The judge, Mohammed Wakili, adjourned the case.
In a related development, an Area Court sitting in Ilorin on Thursday dissolved the Islamic marriage between one Rashida Bashir and her estranged husband, Bashir Adegboye, over the latter’s womanising attitude.
The Presiding Judge, Hammed Ajumonbi, in his ruling, said that the letter sent by the husband revealed that he agreed to the divorce.
Ajumonbi, therefore, dissolved the marriage and ordered the petitioner to observe three months iddah period in accordance with Islamic rites. READ MORE
