PRESS RELEASE
DISSOLUTION AND TOTAL DE-RECOGNITION OF THE TRANSITION/LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE AND MRMR COMMITTEE IN BAYELSA STATE
The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bayelsa State Chapter, under the leadership of Hon. Johnny Tovie Derek, acting pursuant to its constitutional powers and mandate under the Party’s Constitution, and upon a thorough review and consideration of recent developments within the Party, hereby issues this formal directive announcing the immediate dissolution and total de-recognition of the Transition/Leadership Committee and the MRMR Committee operating within Bayelsa State.
This decision follows established findings, credible reports, and verifiable evidence, which reveal as follows:
1. That the processes leading to the purported emergence of the said committees were procedurally defective, unconstitutional, null and void ab initio, having failed to comply with the mandatory provisions of the Party’s Constitution.
2. That the said committees have persistently engaged in acts ultra vires, operating outside the scope of any lawful authority and have conducted unauthorized and unsanctioned activities under the guise of representing the Party.
3. That such actions have resulted in the proliferation of parallel, factional and unauthorized structures and activities, thereby undermining the authority of the duly recognized leadership and threatening the unity, order, and cohesion of the Party within the State.
4. That the cumulative effect of these actions has been to bring the Party into disrepute, impair its institutional integrity, and erode public confidence in its internal governance.
NOW THEREFORE, by the authority of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bayelsa State Chapter, it is hereby resolved and declared as follows:
• The Transition/Leadership Committee and the MRMR Committee are hereby dissolved with immediate effect, and such dissolution shall apply across all strata of the Party structure within Bayelsa State, including State, Local Government, and Ward levels.
• By virtue of this directive, the Party formally disbands, nullifies, and prohibits all activities, operations, meetings, communications, or representations whatsoever carried out in the name or on behalf of the said committees.
• The said committees are hereby declared non-existent in the eyes of the Party, and any prior or ongoing actions undertaken by them are deemed invalid, unauthorized, and of no binding effect on the Party.
• Any person or group of persons who, subsequent to the issuance of this directive, continues to parade themselves, act, convene, publish, or engage in any activity in the name of the dissolved committees shall be deemed to be acting in willful violation of the Party Constitution and shall be subject to immediate, decisive, and comprehensive disciplinary sanctions, including but not limited to suspension, expulsion, and any other measures as provided under the Party’s disciplinary framework.
The Party, under the leadership of Hon. Johnny Tovie Derek, hereby reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the supremacy of the Party Constitution, discipline, unity, and the preservation of lawful order within its ranks. All members are hereby placed on notice and are directed to strictly comply with this directive and align with the duly constituted and recognized leadership structures.
This directive shall take immediate effect and shall remain binding unless and until otherwise reviewed by the appropriate constitutional authority of the Party.
