Former Kano State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Kwankwaso registered as a member and received his party card on Monday at Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Bompai, Kano.
GISTSMATE MEDIA reported that the former Governor cited the need for strategic political realignment in response to the country’s evolving political landscape as the reason for his resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
In a statement issued on Sunday, the former NNPP presidential candidate announced that his resignation takes immediate effect, describing the move as a difficult but necessary step.
According to him, the decision was driven by the current trajectory of national politics, which he believes requires alignment with a platform that offers a stronger opportunity to bring about meaningful change.
He expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve as the party’s national leader and its presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, noting that his time in the party was both an honour and a privilege.
Kwankwaso also thanked the party’s National Chairman, Ajuji Ahmed; the National Working Committee; the Board of Trustees; and members across all levels for their support and commitment to the party’s ideals.
He further acknowledged the dedication of members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, stating that their collective efforts remain important in the pursuit of a better and more prosperous Nigeria.
