Global Impact: Hon. Comforter Olajide Represents Oyo State At CSW70, USA

At the Commission on the Status of Women 70th Session held in New York City, it was a profound honour to join distinguished leaders and stakeholders committed to advancing the cause of women and promoting inclusive development across the globe.

In the course of this impactful engagement, I, Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide, Member of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Ibadan North Constituency I and Chairman, House Committee on Women Affairs and Community Development, was privileged to stand alongside eminent personalities including Alhaji. Razaq Dayo Lawal, Minister/Head of Nigeria to the United Nations; Imam Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Honourable Minister of Women Affairs; and Victoria Ehinome, Clerk of the Senate Committee on Women Affairs, National Assembly.

Also present were key policymakers and administrators including Mohammed Ghali, Director of Protocol, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs; Oluseye Olutimeyin, Director of Policy and Program, Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion; as well as other notable delegates such as Anthonia N Oraoki, National Secretary, NAFOWA; Fadeke Olodude, Director, NOWA; Sweet A Okundaye, Director of Legal Services; Agnes Abraham, Director of Planning, Research and Statistics; Adamu Somaila, Director of Gender Affairs; and Wada Lawal of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, alongside many other eminent personalities.

The 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women provided a strategic platform for meaningful dialogue, policy exchange, and collaborative action aimed at strengthening gender equality, women’s empowerment, and sustainable community development. It reinforced the urgent need for governments and institutions to deepen investments in women-focused policies that foster economic inclusion, social protection, and equal opportunities.

As a representative of the good people of Oyo State, this engagement further strengthens my commitment to championing legislative and community-based initiatives that uplift women, protect their rights, and expand their opportunities across Oyo State and beyond.

The insights gained and partnerships built at this global forum will continue to guide our efforts in delivering impactful and people-oriented governance.
