A mum has admitted in court editing a picture of a DNA test result she found online to say her new boyfriend was the father of her newborn baby rather than the biological dad.
‘Spiteful’ Georgina Saville confessed the act to jurors, but said it was ‘obvious’ it wasn’t a real form as she ‘didn’t go to a lot of effort’ to make it.
In a highly unusual case, prosecutors allege the 25 year old did so to try and ‘de-rail’ the legal bid of ex-boyfriend, Kyle Fitton, who she already had a daughter with before the arrival of the baby girl, to see his children.
She is said to have lied about the paternity of the newborn to ‘deter’ Mr Fitton, 28, and his solicitors from pursuing his court claim for access to his two daughters.
When asked by Mr Fitton’s solicitors to take a DNA test, she sent them bogus results trying to prove the newborn baby was actually the daughter of her new boyfriend, Danny Mellows.
Having originally left the father section of the birth certificate blank, she then went to the Registry Office and added Mr Mellows as the official dad – despite previously admitting her two girls were ‘full blood sisters’.
However, she denies her editing and subsequent document was made in an effort to thwart Mr Fitton’s legal bid to see his children and instead was to get his solicitor to stop emailing her.
Giving evidence at Southampton Crown Court, Saville admitted how she doctored the DNA test result.
“I changed the name to [the baby]’s and Danny Mellows as the alleged father,” she said. “It was just online, I just downloaded it. It was just a form online.”
