Gunmen suspected to be bandits, on Monday, attacked Oyate community in Oro-Ago Divisional area of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara state.
According to DAILY POST, the attack was the second abortive attack in two weeks.
The armed bandits reportedly attacked the same community and disrupted Muslimsâ last Friday prayer but were resisted by the local security personnel in the area.
The Monday attack also witnessed sporadic shootings by the bandits in the bid to scare people but was not successful.
Security sources disclosed that the armed bandits crossed over from neighbouring Kogi State which shares common boundaries with Kwara to carry out their attacks on towns and villages in the state.
The attacks have persisted despite the launch of âOperation Savannah Shieldâ by the Nigerian Army to flush out criminals in the state.
In a statement released by Nigerian Army last month, military vowed to bring to justice those responsible for the killing of villagers in Woro, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The statement said that, following a presidential directive, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), in conjunction with the Army Headquarters (AHQ) and other services, has inaugurated Operation Savannah Shield to conduct intensive operations in Kwara and Niger States aimed at routing out the festering terrorist enclaves in the area.
