Iran has dismissed claims that it is in talks with the United States to end the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, insisting it has no interest in negotiations with Washington.
Iranâs Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, said Tehran would not engage the United States after accusing it of launching attacks while diplomatic contacts were still ongoing.
âWe are stable and strong enough. We are only defending our people,â Araghchi said during an interview on CBSâ âFace The Nation.â
He added, âWe donât see any reason why we should talk with Americans, because we were talking with them when they decided to attack us. There is no good experience talking with Americans.â
The remarks came after Donald Trump told reporters that Washington was already in discussions with Iran but suggested the country was not yet ready to reach a deal to end the fighting.
âYes, weâre talking to them,â Trump said aboard Air Force One. âBut I donât think theyâre ready. But they are getting pretty close.â
The conflict, which has drawn in Israel and escalated tensions across the region, has now entered its third week, raising concerns about wider instability and pressure on global markets.
