U.S. Lawmaker Presents Report On Alleged Christian Genocide To Trump

United States House Committee on Appropriations and the United States House Committee on Foreign Affairs have formally submitted a comprehensive report to the White House detailing findings and recommendations on the alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria.

The submission follows President Trumpโ€™s earlier redesignation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) and his directive to Congressman Riley Moore and Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole to spearhead an in-depth congressional investigation into violence affecting Christian communities and broader security challenges in the country.

Moore confirmed the submission of the report on Christian genocide in Nigeria in a post on X on Monday evening, stating that members of both committees met at the White House to present what he described as a months-long investigative report.

According to Moore, the findings were derived from expert witness interviews, congressional hearings and roundtables, two bipartisan fact-finding delegations to Nigeria, and consultations with officials in the Trump administration.

The lawmaker had earlier led a delegation to Nigeria where members visited Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in Benue State, met victims of terrorism, and held discussions with top government officials, including the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

Moore said the delegation now has what he described as a clearer understanding of the threats confronting Christian communities and the security dynamics fueling instability in parts of Nigeria.

He urged the Nigerian government to leverage the development to strengthen bilateral ties with the United States, noting that enhanced cooperation would serve the interests of both nations.

The report outlines several recommendations, including:

Establishing a bilateral U.S.โ€“Nigeria security agreement aimed at protecting vulnerable Christian communities and dismantling jihadist networks.

Providing technical assistance to address violence attributed to armed Fulani militias.

Calling for the repeal of Sharia and blasphemy laws.

Coordinating efforts with international partners such as France, Hungary and the United Kingdom.

Moore expressed appreciation to President Trump for redesignating Nigeria as a CPC and for what he described as the administrationโ€™s commitment to confronting extremist violence.

He also acknowledged the roles of Vice Chair Mario Diaz-Balart, Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast, and Congressman Chris Smith in producing and delivering the report.

โ€œI travelled on a bipartisan delegation to Nigeria and saw with my own eyes the horrific atrocities Christians face and the instability the Nigerian government must combat,โ€ Moore said.
