The Imo State Police Command has arrested and detained its officers who allegedly demanded a one hundred thousand naira kickback before they could intervene in the rape case of a fifteen-year-old brought before them at the State Police Command.

Spokesperson of the state police, Henry Okoye, who confirmed their detention in a statement he released to journalists in Owerri, said an orderly room trial would be conducted on the officers involved.

Recalled is a viral video of a 15-year-old girl from Umuekweye, Irete in Owerri West Local Government Area of the state, who was allegedly raped by a twenty-four-year-old, Wisdom Onyeaju, at their family compound during the yuletide.

According to the elder sister of the victim in the video, the suspect, who took advantage of the minor, threatened her with a knife before forcefully having his way into her. The victim, who returned home with other members of her family, was said to have stayed home alone when others had gone to watch the village masquerade on display.
