The Ghana Police Service has arrested self-proclaimed prophet Ebo Noah following widespread panic sparked by his claim that biblical floods would strike Ghana on Christmas Day.
Noah reportedly told thousands of followers that God had revealed an imminent flood and urged them to donate money for the construction of giant wooden arks as a means of survival.
The claim triggered mass anxiety, with crowds marching across parts of the country to locations allegedly designated as ark sites.
When the predicted floods failed to occur, Noah was said to have told followers that he had persuaded God to spare the nation out of mercy.
He was later seen with a new Mercedes-Benz, fueling public outrage and allegations that donated funds were misused.
Authorities intervened as concerns grew over the panic caused and the alleged financial exploitation of followers.
The Ghana Police Service confirmed his arrest and said investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Religious leaders and community stakeholders have since urged the public to exercise discernment, verify prophetic claims, and avoid fear-driven actions.
They also called for responsible religious teachings that promote peace, accountability, and social stability.
