FLASH: Oyedele Presents Tax Reform Acts To President Tinubu In Lagos

The Nigeria Tax Reform Acts were formally presented to President Bola Tinubu at his Lagos residence on Friday.

The presentation was made by the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Taiwo Oyedele.

According to the official photos from the event, Oyedele handed the documents directly to the President.

Photo from the occasion shared by the State House showed the presence of several senior officials, including Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chairman of the National Tax Policy Implementation Committee, Joseph Tegbe, Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Mr. Zacch Adedeji, and Oyedele alongside Tinubu during the presentation.

PUNCH Online reports that the Nigeria Tax Reform Acts are the outcome of the work of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, which was established to review Nigeria’s tax laws and fiscal structure.

Earlier in June 2025, Tinubu signed into law four tax reform bills on key areas of Nigeria’s fiscal and revenue framework, at a ceremony held at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The four bills include: the Nigeria Tax Bill, the Nigeria Tax Administration Bill, the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill, and the Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Bill.

The committee was mandated to recommend measures to harmonise tax administration, reduce the multiplicity of taxes, improve compliance, and strengthen government revenue generation.

The National Tax Policy Implementation Committee and the Federal Inland Revenue Service were involved in the implementation framework and coordination of the reforms, working alongside relevant institutions to prepare the Acts for rollout.

With the presentation to the President concluded, the Nigeria Tax Reform Acts are set to be implemented nationwide from January 1, 2026, in line with the federal government’s fiscal calendar.
