The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, says he is committed to promoting peace, security and inter-religious harmony in Kano State and Nigeria at large.
Sanusi expressed this commitment on Saturday when he received the Executive members and Elders of the Kano State Chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, on a courtesy visit to his palace in Kano.
The monarch, who recalled his early exposure to Christian education, pointed out that he attended a Catholic school as a young man, noting that the experience helped shape his appreciation for religious coexistence.
Sanusi called on religious leaders to intensify prayers for sustained harmony, especially in light of recent security concerns affecting some border communities.
âWe should encourage continued interfaith cooperation and the role of religious leaders to foster unity and stability at both state and national levels.
âI appreciate the PFN for the Peace Award you presented to me, and I assure you of my continued support and openness to engaging with Christian communities in the state,â he said.
Speaking earlier, the Kano State Chairman of the PFN, Rev. Elkanah Enweluzor, said the visit was to identify with the Emirâs leadership and his consistent efforts at sustaining peace in the state.
