FLASH: Court Remands Ex-Anambra Gov, Ngige, Over Alleged Corruption, Adjourns Case

Former Governor of Anambra state, Chris Ngige, has been remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the hearing of the bail application.

Justice Mariam Hassan of the Federal Capital Territory High Court issued the remand order on Friday, after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned the ex-minister of Labour and ProductivityĀ in court over a N2.2bn corruption allegation.

The judge adjourned the case to Monday, 15th December, for the hearing of the bail application.

Ngige was arraigned on an eight-count charge.

During proceedings on Friday, the EFCC Counsel, Sylvanus Tahir, asked the high court for a date for the commencement of the trial.

He also requested that the defendant be remanded in the custody of the anti-graft commission, pending the bail hearing.
