How I Was Assaulted, Extorted At Popular Filling Station In Lagos – Man Narrates

A man simply identified as Talabi Adeniyi (T.Fire) has alleged that he was humiliated by the staff of MRS Filling Station, Alapere.

Giving his account on X (formerly Twitter), he said the incident happened on December 4.

He wrote:
I was assaulted and extorted tonight at the MRS Filling Station, Alapere Estate, Lagos β€” and I’m sharing this publicly for my safety and to demand accountability.

On December 4th, 2025, at about 7:40 PM, I went to the MRS filling station at Alapere Estate to buy ₦2,000 worth of fuel. Instead of dispensing the full amount I paid for, the attendant sold ₦1,900, claiming he deducted ₦100 as β€œkeg money.”
When I politely asked why I was being charged for a keg that belongs to me, the attendant became rude and aggressive. I then requested to see the station Manager to clarify the issue.

After I demanded to see the Manager:
The attendant and other staff ganged up against me, physically assaulted me by hitting me and pulling my clothes, and forced me to delete the video I had recorded as evidence.

They threatened my safety, poured the fuel into another container, returned my empty keg and money, and chased me out of the station.

The man responsible is clearly visible and audible in the video and the voice note I recorded. Authorities and the station management should review the video and voice note for verification.
This was not just extortion β€” it was harassment, intimidation, physical assault, and a severe breach of customer safety and ethical standards.
I have also learned that this is not the first time this station extorts customers using kegs. Many people in the area have reportedly had similar experiences.
I am calling on all relevant authorities to take urgent action:

I am demanding:

1. A full investigation into the behaviour of the attendants involved

2. Sanctions for assault, extortion, and intimidation

3. An immediate end to the illegal β€œkeg fee” being forced on customers

4. Better protection and safety measures for customers at this station

5. Review of the video and voice note I recorded to identify the perpetrator

I am safe now, but the incident was frightening and unacceptable.
I am sharing this publicly for transparency and to protect others from experiencing the same abuse.

Nigeria deserves better. Customers deserve respect, safety, and fair treatment.
