FLASH: Retired Nigerian Judge Found Dead With Hands, Legs Tied 

Members of family of a retired judge, Justice Ifeoma Okogwu, have raised alarm over her murder in her Asaba home, Delta State, on Sunday, November 23, 2025.

It was learnt that the remains of the retired Judge were found with her legs, hands bound early Monday morning by her family members.

Also, her home was thoroughly ransacked by her killers.

While crying out for justice over the brutal murder, the brother of the late Judge, Ogbueshi Godfrey Okogwu, said the family learned of the killing early Monday morning.

Okogwu confirmed that the deceased was discovered with her legs, hands and face tightly bound and her entire house thoroughly ransacked on Monday.

He noted that one of the concerns of the family was the disappearance of the night security guard stationed at the Judge’s home.

According to him, the guard on morning shift claimed he met the gate wide open when he arrived.

He added that the the guard said he sat at the gate when he came in the morning, despite meeting the gate wide open, with his colleague who was supposed to hand over to him missing.

“My eldest sister was murdered in her house on Sunday night.

“We only received the news on Monday morning, so we presume the incident happened during the night. A major red flag in the investigation is the disappearance of the night security guard stationed at the Judge’s home. The guard on the morning shift claimed he met the gate wide open when he arrived.

“He said he simply sat there. Sat there doing what? I do not know. I do not understand this situation at all. The family has already provided Police with the name, details and logo of the private security company responsible for deploying the guards.

He added that the police have already detained detained the morning guard while the owner of the security outfit has been asked to report to the station.

But he said he was not aware if the proprietor has complied.

“Only God knows what truly happened. We will not know anything concrete until the Police complete their investigations”, he said.

He added that the corpse of the retired judge has been deposited in the mortuary immediately after the family notified police of the incident and visited the security company’s office on Monday.

Delta Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident.

He disclosed that some of security guards arrested over the murder are in custody while one of those wanted is at large.
