The Northern chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has condemned the renewed wave of insecurity across the country following separate attacks in Kwara, Borno and Kebbi States.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Chairman of Northern CAN, Rev. Joseph John Hayab, described the incidents as painful reminders of the worsening security challenges confronting citizens and security personnel.
He lamented the attack on a Christ Apostolic Church, CAC, in Kwara State, where worshippers were killed and several abducted, the killing of a senior military officer, a General, by ISWAP terrorists in Borno State, and the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State.
Rev. Hayab said the association stands in strong solidarity with affected families and communities, noting that the trauma of losing loved ones or having children in captivity is unbearable.

He prayed for the comfort of the bereaved, healing for the injured and the safe return of all abducted persons.
While commending the Nigerian Armed Forces for their sacrifices, Hayab warned that the resurgence of terror attacks appears to be a calculated attempt to destabilise the country. He urged troops not to allow the incidents to weaken their morale.
He also charged the new service chiefs to intensify operations and demonstrate renewed commitment to defeating insurgents, bandits and other criminal networks troubling the nation.
Hayab appealed to the Federal Government to step up efforts to secure schools, worship centres and other vulnerable areas, stressing that Nigerians expect decisive action to ensure perpetrators of these crimes are brought to justice.
Describing the attacks as unacceptable acts of evil, Northern CAN called for stronger collaboration between security agencies, state governments and local communities to avert further tragedies.
