Tinubu Sends Shettima To Kebbi, Assures Rescue Of Kidnapped Schoolgirls

President Bola Tinubu has directed Vice-President Kashim Shettima to visit Kebbi on Wednesday to commiserate with the state government and reassure parents of the abducted schoolgirls that the federal government will ensure their safe and quick return.

Tinubu also condoled with the military over the death of soldiers, including Brigadier General Musa Uba, who were killed in Borno while fighting insurgents.

The president, who has received full briefings from military authorities on both incidents, expressed sadness over the abduction of the schoolgirls despite earlier intelligence warnings of an imminent attack.

He commended Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris for his efforts to avert the kidnapping in Maga, adding that the breach underscores the need for stronger security-community collaboration.

Tinubu urged communities, especially those in insecurity-prone areas, to share intelligence with the military, police, and DSS to enhance public safety.

His words: “As the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, I am depressed with the tragic death of our soldiers and officers on active duty.

“May God comfort the families of Brigadier General Musa Uba and other fallen heroes. I am also depressed that heartless terrorists have disrupted the education of innocent schoolgirls. I have directed the security agencies to act swiftly and bring the girls back to Kebbi State.”

Tinubu said security forces cannot succeed without the cooperation of Nigerians, noting that information from residents is “crucial” to defeating terrorism.
