Adeleke, Kefas Absent As PDP Holds 2025 National Convention In Ibadan

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun and Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba were notably absent from the ongoing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Despite internal crises and two adverse court rulings, the party went ahead with the exercise.

Reports indicate that the Umar Damagum-led faction relied on a judgement from an Oyo State High Court to carry out the convention.

As the event began, reporters observed the presence of Governors Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), and the host governor, Seyi Makinde (Oyo).

The absence of Adeleke and Kefas has heightened tensions within the party at a time when the PDP had hoped to project unity and strength.

The crisis deepened after a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered a halt to the convention until former Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido is permitted to purchase a nomination form to contest for the position of National Chairman.

The court also restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from monitoring or recognising any convention held without Lamido’s inclusion.

Despite the court order, the party proceeded with the convention.
