A notorious bandit commander, Kachallah Buzu has been killed by troops from the Joint Task Force Northwest OPHD in Zamfara state.
Buzu was killed alongside several of his fighters, in what has been described as a major breakthrough against terrorism.
A reputable counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama disclosed this in post, alongside a video of the offensive in a post on his X handle on Friday.
Zagazola, reputed for receiving credible security news on military offensive in the region, said he got the information from intelligence sources.
According to him, the operation, which took place on the night of September 12 in Mayanchi village, was the result of an ambush laid by the military following intelligence reports on the terrorists’ movements.
He wrote, “Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the ambush led to the neutralization of numerous bandits, including their leader, Buzu.
“In addition to the significant loss of life among the insurgents, the troops seized 30 motorcycles and a large cache of weapons, further crippling the group’s operational capabilities.
“The success of this operation was a significant victory in the ongoing efforts to combat banditry in the Northwest region.”
This comes less than a day after Nigerian Army troops of OPHK Kai killed a top commander of the Boko Haram terrorist sect, Ibn Kaseer during a raid in Sambisa forest of Borno State.
