SPOTTED: CAC Misspells ‘Independence’ In Felicitation Flyer To Tinubu

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has stirred public reaction after a typographical error was spotted in its Independence Day message to President Bola Tinubu.

In a flyer posted on X on Wednesday to mark Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary, the agency, headed by Hussaini Magaji, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), wrote “indepndence” instead of “independence” in its headline.

The CAC congratulated Nigerians, especially the president, while pledging support for the Tinubu’s plan to create 50 million jobs for the youth through the “formalisation of more unregistered businesses”.

“HAPPY 65th INDEPNDENCE DAY! The Management and Staff of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) heartily felicitate all Nigerians especially His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR on the celebration of Independence Day,” the flyer reads.

The gaffe quickly drew attention online, with Nigerians questioning how a federal agency tasked with registering businesses and enforcing compliance with statutory standards could overlook such a basic error.

An X user who identified as @marvelAnhulu wrote: “Look at the spelling of your independence. Look at the design! Just hiring a sharp designer would end this kind of disaster”.

Another user, @_data_alchemist, added:
“A culture of anyhowness! They could not even spell ‘Independence’ rightly!”
