The Arewa Youth Congress (AYC), a coalition of patriotic young leaders across the 19 Northern states, has declared full support for Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume’s call to retain the current Service Chiefs, stressing that continuity in military leadership is vital to defeating insecurity in Nigeria.
Speaking on behalf of the Congress, Ambassador Hassan Sadau, Speaker of AYC, said that insecurity cannot be solved through constant leadership changes.
“Each abrupt change costs Nigeria precious time, resources, and innocent lives. Continuity in command is not just desirable—it is indispensable,” Sadau emphasized.
The group insisted that Nigeria’s gallant officers need stable leadership, modern equipment, intelligence support, and stronger community cooperation—not the uncertainty of endless replacements.
According to Sadau, “Stability boosts troop morale, strengthens community trust in flashpoint areas like the North-West and Southern Kaduna, and ensures accountability through measurable progress.”
In a strong commendation, AYC hailed the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, for his pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s security response.
“AYC hails Mallam Nuhu Ribadu as the compass of Nigeria’s security strategy. His leadership has provided direction, coordination, and renewed synergy in our security operations. He is the glue holding our national security framework together,” Sadau stated.
The Congress warned that reckless calls for the removal of Service Chiefs must be rejected, stressing that Nigeria needs consistency, not confusion; stability, not trial and error.
“The lives of our people depend on it, and AYC will continue to defend stability, continuity, and decisive leadership,” the statement concluded.
