BREAKING: Gov Makinde Hands Over Power To Deputy

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is set to step aside temporarily as he proceeds on a one-month leave starting Friday, August 29, 2025.

In a letter read on the floor of the House of Assembly by Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin on Tuesday, Makinde notified lawmakers in line with Section 190(1) of the Constitution and handed over full powers to his deputy.

Barrister Bayo Lawal will serve as Acting Governor throughout the period, in absence of the Governor Makinde.

“I hereby transmit that during the period indicated above, the Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, shall serve as Acting Governor.

“I shall resume duty upon my return from vacation on Monday, 29th September 2025,” part of the governor’s letter read.
