BREAKING: Ogun APC Denies Suspending Ex-Governor Amosun, Reveals Next Action

The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has refuted reports being circulated on some media platforms and social media that it has suspended the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, for anti-party conduct.

The party, in a statement by its Director of Publicity, Nuberu Olufemi, on Thursday, August 21, described the report as malicious and a pure fabrication.

He added that the publication is not only false, but reckless and a deliberate attempt by faceless individuals and political adversaries to create disaffection, causing confusion within the ranks of the party and bringing the Ogun APC into disrepute.

Nuberu said that the State Working Committee of the party only ratified the indefinite suspension slammed on the former governor of Ogun State, Senator Gbenga Daniel, and one other party member, by their wards in Sagamu Local Government Area.

He stressed that the purported suspension of Senator Amosun did not originate from any official or sanctioned organ of the Ogun APC, urging the general public, party members, and the media to disregard what he described as “this piece of fiction in its entirety.”

While noting that the actions of purveyors of the fake news constitute a serious crime with grave consequences, Nuberu stated the false news is another feeble attempt to tarnish the solid image of Ogun APC and its leaders.

He, however, disclosed that the matter has been formally reported to the relevant security agencies, vowing the party will not hesitate to prosecute to the full extent of the law anyone found to be involved in the creation, funding, or dissemination of this falsehood.

“We have requested a full-scale investigation to unmask the individuals and groups behind this criminal impersonation and cybercrime. The party will not hesitate to prosecute anyone found to be involved in the creation, funding, or dissemination of this falsehood to the fullest extent of the law.

“This serves as a stern warning to the purveyors of this fake news and those who seek to tarnish the solid image of our party and its leaders. Your actions constitute a serious crime with grave consequences.

“The APC in Ogun State remains united, strong, and focused on its goals of delivering good governance to the good people of the state. We will not be distracted by the antics of desperate elements,” Nuberu concluded in the statement.
